Change Your Reality by a Thought.

Change Your Reality by a Thought

I just finished reading a book called happy pocket.

It was one of the most mind bending books on success and the world around us that I’ve ever read. It opened my mind up to sooo many ideas, but the main thing was we literally have complete control over every aspect of our lives.

It broke down the science of success and happiness to quantum physics… haha probably sounds a little crazy already 😉 The basic principle that It talks about though is that we are the cause of our circumstances, not the result.

What Is Energy?

To tell you how that works, I gotta break it down first.. When you look at a cell under a microscope its made up of molecules, those molecules are made up of atoms, which are made up of sub-atomic particles which aren’t made up of energy, they are energy. So, everything is just made up of different arrangements of this energy.

The thing you need to know though, that these particles of energy are insanely weird lol. One quote from Deepak Chopra “Quantum physics is not just stranger than you think, its stranger than you can think”, because just the act of observing the particle, changes the way it looks!

This video helps explain that.

So how can we manipulate and change our reality?

Simply by changing our intention. Our intention is a thought and belief, in certainty, of what we desire to happen. And through setting intention and consistent action you create the exact kind of life you want!

Cheers 🙂

That is certainly a very interesting video. I agree we can break or make ourselves with our own thoughts. God knows that and that’s why in Philipians 4:8 says. – Whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, if anything is excellent or praiseworthy, think about such things. – Thank you for visiting and liking my web site, it let me know about yours!

Hi Tom, Thanks for liking my Post on Elephants and illegal trading in ivory etc.

To add another ‘perspective’ to the conversation.Right from the time we are born we begin filtering the vast sensory input fed to our brains from our eyes ear;s skin etc because we are bombarded with so much information our brains are just not capable of analysing every single bit for meaning.. by necessity our brains make ‘shortcut’ for us to help us decide what is useful and what can be ignored, for our basic needs,

As we grow however those basic needs and requirements we have as a baby, kid etc change but our ‘shortcuts’ may stay the same or become added to to modify major differences in our thought patterns/likes dislikes etc.

With practice and determination (careful choice and selective repetition) it is possible to modify these ‘filters’ so that they may better help ( or hinder less) our wants and desires as an adult rather than as a child.

As we are the result of our previous choices in life ( to study or to goof off – to work hard or surf all day etc) by altering our ability to make those choices through selective ‘filtering’ it is possible to ‘create’ a life you think you most desire… but of course this does require discipline and effort and practice. Many of us like the idea – just not the hard work that it requires to work ‘miracles’ 😉

I am already searching for the book. Thank you for sharing the title and explaining the concept in a very simple language.

There is one more book which talks about Quantum Physics (Though I have not read that book beyond 21 pages) – The Tao of Physics, I would suggest you read that too. Perhaps you have already read that, if yes – please blog on that book too 🙂

  4. Ajithaa Edirimane

Thank you for dropping by my blog and liking my photo “Silhouettes at Dusk”.
I like your comments on how our mind affects our actions. The following Buddhist teaching may interest you –
“What we are today comes from our thoughts of yesterday, and our present thoughts build our life of tomorrow. Our life is the creation of our mind”.

  5. theamateurcamera

I so totally agree with this, positive thought and intention can have a huge impact on your life and the lives of those around you too. Thanks for the like on my ‘Magical Dartmoor’ pics!

Hey Tom ~ thanks for stopping by my blog Reflections and liking one of my posts. Great to ‘meet’ you here in internet land. Looking forward to reading more of your thoughts.

That I am at cause and not effect was the single most life-changing realisation for me. Check out the DVD ‘What the Bleep Do We Know.’ Yes, its a whole now world.

  9. Spirit Contacts

Thoughts are things and shifting intention can indeed transform your daily reality. Good stuff here. Thanks for liking my article transparency- Behind the scenes of a radio show.

Tom, on a slight tangent but still on how we perceive the world have you read The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle? He has such a simple idea, but it’s the difference between ‘happiness’ and ‘unhappiness’ and about constant practice, unless like him you have a ‘Damascus’ moment. I will blog on it soon, so watch my space!

Masaru Emoto is one of my favorite authors! The Divine Matrix, by Gregg Braden, is also a very cool book. Like Emoto, he has is share of debunkers, but he cites some incredible experiments.

Thank you for finding my blog so that I could find yours. How did you find it? I’m always curious. I just read this post and watched the video and then three more about the memory of water. I have never heard of this and am absolutely fascinated! Thanks for opening this new avenue to me.

  13. Marci Wise

Yes, I do believe that you’ve stumbled onto something powerful here. Since everything is energy, once we can learn to control the energy, we’ll have better control over our lives. Good ideas. Thanks for posting!

I totally agree on positive thoughts and intentions. However I must say there are days that I struggle with this. Today for example, I found that I was being inundated with negative thoughts. Those just seem to roll on & on unless a conscious effort is made to change them. I was able to do so, and to date the most effective means in which I was able to do so was to think/write “I am so happy and grateful for……” as I did this it changed my focus and broke the cycle. My apologies for being wordy, I didn’t actually realize I was going to go here until I did. Thanks for your blog…which reminds me – I should be writing about my change on my blog. Thanks Thomas!

Sounds like a great book. I love the clip from What the Bleep! I’ve been focused on living my life with intention for about 6 years, and have been happier and more self-fulfilled than I’ve ever been. I’m a continual work in progress, except it doesn’t feel like work, it feels like me! Thanks for stopping by and liking my post. I enjoyed yours!

Great blog Tom. It’s taken me 43 years to realise we are the product of our choices in life. I’ve made plenty of bad ones but now I know this stuff works I hope I’m making much better ones. Cheers buddy and thanks for liking my blog too.

Hi Tom- thanks for stopping by my blog ReclaimingAllOfYou and liking one of my posts! What a cool way to connect with others and of course it lead me back to your wonderful blog. 🙂

Love your post! It reminds me of a favorite quote by Albert Einstein- “Everything is energy and that’s all there is to it. Match the frequency if the reality you want and you cannot help but get that reality. It can be no other way. This is not philosophy. This is physics.”

  19. longbridgepublishing

Thank you for stopping by and liking our blog post. You write very interesting things, too!

  20. Taasha

Thats fantastic! Thankyou for saying in words what is extremely difficult to explain on the fly to the curious. Because its all so true. Our worlds are as variable and as flexible as our minds, and when we can learn to bend those, then the world is literally in your hands 😀

  21. ExcuseMy_French

I really agree with the points you’re making. Its true that we can change our reality just by our thought patterns. Positive thoughts creates positive results. That’s why we in bible it says “Your thoughts run your life”. If we believe we can then what is holding us back(?). I always think that its my negativity to certain situations that holds me back. Instead of trying to live life, I’m trying to master it but that simply won’t work because its through mistakes and hard times that you gain valuable expereince.

Your an amazing writer and I hope to check out some more of your work in the future.

    • thomasmaxwell12

Yeah your totally right! It has a lot of references to the law of attraction in te bible which I find really interesting. And I’m gonna do another post in this, because it’s not that our thoughts are the “sole factor” in creating our reality.

Our thoughts control our state – happiness, sadness, anger, fear. What we visualize strongly effects that also. And depending on what state were in will depict what actions we will take which THEN determines our reality.

If you don’t take any action nothing almost nothing will happen. It’s like training your whole life for playing basketball and then never coming on the court, but expect that you’ll “magically” win a game. It doesn’t work like that. You have to take action. Period.

      • thomasmaxwell12

“As you think so shall you be.”
“Knock and the door will be opened, seek and you will find.” – this is talking about the law of attraction in that what you focus on is what you’ll attract into your life. Saying that you are the cause of the situations in your life.

  22. janjoy52

Jesus said its the heart that controlls the mind. The things we say come from our minds but the things we think about come from our hearts. Jesus was completely counter culture. He said true happiness is to recognize our poverty, our complete lack ability to reach God’s standards of excellece and surreder to His plans and purposes. Perfection was never attainable by weight and measure system of our good deed outweighing our bad deeds. Jesus said we have to have a genetic overhaul. A heart transplant. I just saw Oz the Great and Powerful and in the end the good witch said to our hero “You’re not great. You’re better than great. You’re good.”. There’s the lesson on happiness. Better to be poor than to gain the whole world and lose your soul. Its a noble thing to want to supply your loved one’s needs. But if acquiring become the end to all things it is a shallow victory. Jesus said seek FIRST the kingdom of God and HIS righteousness and all these things will be added to you. The very first rule God gave Moses is to love the Lord our God with all our hearts, souls, mind and strength. When we’ve got that right everything else will fall into place. When I am anxious, sad, resentful I use that rule as my attitude check. Its not about rules its about relationship. Have I left my first love?

    • thomasmaxwell12

Yeah I agree with a lot of that. But I also believe that God wants us to have prosperity and abundance. He didn’t place us in this world to suffer and struggle all of our lives. That’s why I strongly believe in the law of attraction. That you attract what you are NOT what you want. If you happy and fulfilled you a further attract things into your life that perpetuate that.

You have to become detached from everything external in your life – meaning that you can’t rely on anything to make yourself happy. So you FIRST need to become happy and fulfilled to attract the circumstances in which to own a Lamborghini lets say, because that way if it burns to the ground and you lose everything you won’t lose your state of being.

And your state of being is what brings TRUE joy and fulfillment. Nothing outside of you can bring you that. And I should also say that I don’t believe God is external to us. He is in us. So when I say becoming fulfilled inside “myself” I’m talking about me and God or the source. Which ever you prefer.

      • janjoy52

Jesus says God is a spirit and we must worship Him in spirit and truth. In order to be received by Him we must first believe He is and rewards those who diligently seek Him. In God’s economy He says blessed are the poor in spirit because theirs is the kingdom of God. Blessed are the meek because they will inherit the earth, blessed are they that hunger and thirst for righteousness because they will be filled, blessed are you when men revile you and say all manner of evil against you falsely for my sake for great will your reward be in heaven for so persecuted they the prophets that were before you. God does not desire that you become the magnet for fabulous things in this life. This is only a staging zone for eternity and He wants you to know true fulfillment and embrace your greater destiny that can only be achieved in Jesus. I suggest you start your journey by reading the Gospel of John.

Quite a profound thought! Our intentions are defined by our experiences and sometimes , purpose of life, our basic values and beliefs. The best part of it is that even a negative intention could be altered through introspection and a positive outlook.

  24. Breezy

This post is very interesting. I have to say I don’t beleive we controle our reality by our thoughts. I agree what you said above, that we can controle our state of mind by our thoughts and focus. If we have negative thoughts then our state of mind will more than likely be negative. WE can controle how we respond to a circumstance but most of the time we can not controle our circumstances. Sometimes by choices we can. Sometime things happen that we have absolutely no controle over. That’s because it’s not us that controles the universe but God alone. Nothing, absolutely nothing touches me that God does not allow into my life. I will let God’s words from the Holy Bible state this point. “I am the Lord and there is no other. I form the light and create darkness, I bring prospertiy and create disaster. I, the Lord do all these things.” Isaiah 45:7 “Turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth, for I am God and there is no other. In the Lord alone are righteousness and strength.” Isaiah 45:22 and 24 “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you. Who directs you in the way you should go. If only you had paid attention to my commands, your peace would have been like a river, our righteousness like the waves of the sea.” Isaiah 48:17-18 “To man belong the plans of the heart, but from the Lord comes the reply of the tongue. All man’s ways seem innocent to him but motives are weighed by the Lord. Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed. The Lord woks out everything for His own ends–even the wicked for a day of disaster.” Proverbs 16:1-4 There are many, many more verses that God controles the universe, holds the stars in place, even names them, and if we allow Him will controle our lives. HOwever He will not force His way into our hearts. It’s when our focus is not on Him, that we go our own way and fight our own battles that we loose our way. Praising Him keeps our minds focused on Him and on the most postive thing there is in the universe. this gives me peace like a river and makes me aware of His love that is like an ocean. I won’t write a book here, I am interested in reading your blog on the “law of attraction” that you mentioned. I’m not sure what that is so want to read that post. I will add that only belief in God’s Son, Jesus, who paid the penilty for our sins can controle our future destiny, which will be either in Heaven with Him for those who beleive or in Hell for those who reject Him. Thank you for checking out my post and likeing it.

Our reality is shaped and created by our thoughts. Of course, we can change it.

Thank you Thomas, and I’m glad I came to check out your blog and all the thoughtful commenters. I haven’t read happy pocket, I’ve been too immersed in Discworld and autism resources lately. I’ll look it up.

Dr. Emoto is one of my favorites and I regularly bless the water that I drink, just because. I love the idea that the water retains ideas and emotions and reflects them. We are mostly made of water and our thoughts are being broadcast and recorded.

The thoughts that I think create the circumstances around me. I am surrounded by wonderful co-creators who dependably act out their parts. This is lovely news when things are going well, and exactly what I don’t want to hear when things suck. lol

Still true, regardless of how I feel about it. Thanks for saying it.

I have a slightly different perspective about goals and how we achieve them and you inspired me to write. Always a good sign in a blog! I’ll be back.

BTW, I love your tagline. My hubby has similar issues.

Hi Thomas – thanks for your blog and thanks for connecting with mine. One thing that is powerful is the mind and our intention, another thing that adds to that is ‘grounding’ the intention – our bodies are multi-dimensional – to ground our thoughts and bring them into the ‘feeling of our body’ accelerates our intention. The mind might begin the thought but this is not ‘the all’ – it must move into our essence before it can become a reality – whatever ‘essence’ means to you is for you to decide. To me it is my heart and I must feel it within me, otherwise it is not able to manifest – this is my quantum reality – my multi-dimensional energy that assists me in everything I do. When I think about my life, it is the things I am passionate about, inspired about that create my reality – the mind is only a tiny aspect of my truth. Thanks for creating such a great topic. Victoria

    • thomasmaxwell12

Yeah I agree with that. You have to bring your entire physiology into that “thought”. That changes your state, changing the actions you take – changing your reality 🙂

  28. betsyjomiller

Thanks for liking my blog on the many forms of Terrorism. You are what you are because you are! Ah – energy does make the world go ’round – but we create our reality by molding that energy. When we use it unconsciously there’s trouble, when we use it consciously there’s progress.

The verse Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Verse 29 “For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son”
If we love God He works all things for good in our lives It’s not left up to destiny or our own thoughts but the All Mighty God of the Universe is the One who controls our lives. His main purpose is that we become like His Son, Jesus, who gave His life to pay the price I can not pay. Jesus, the Son of God gave His life on the cross so that I can identify with Father God by believing and accepting His Son as my Savior. We are conformed to the image of Jesus by His blood given on that cross and by living our lives for Him. God did not leave His Son on the cross however, Jesus now lives and walks in Glory with His Father. I can identify with and know God’s daily purposes in my life through His Holy Spirit who lives in me and guides me every day.

      • thomasmaxwell12

But how do you know if your living in purpose? Is it based on your decisions on how you live your life, or does “it just happen”? Because if we have no control over our lives then why do we have free will?

And I’m not asking for what the bible says about “purpose” and I’m looking for what You say about purpose. Because if you cant personally Define A goal (purpose) then how do you know when you’ve reached it?

      • Breezy

My goal, my purpose is to glorify my Father God with my life, with my words with who I am. I can not do this in myself. I need God’s Spirit living in me enabling me. So my desire is to be so full of the Spirit that I dont’ know where I end and He begins. THat my every thought and my every move is from Him, that I allow Him to prune away anything that would come between Him and Me. That I become nothing and He is everything. I probably won’t reach this goal completely while I’m still here on this earth, but only when I am perfected in Heaven with Him. But I will strive towards it using the Bible as my guidline and plumline to see if I am going towards it or away from my goal. I can not seperate my pupose from God’s word or from God Himself since He is my purpose and His Word, the Bible is my map. That’s how I know if I”m living in His will (what I meant by purpose) and by His Spirit within me bearing witness that I am walking with Him. Beleive me I know when I’m not. We have a free will becasue God gives us a free will to choose Him or not. And once we choose Him we have the choice to choose His will, or control in our lives or to try to do it by ouselves. This is a choice we face all the time, every day we have to relinquish our cituations and lives to Him, if we so choose. That is part of my pupose, to walk in His will and not mine. It’s not easy. But a relationship with Almighty God is definetely worth it. Thank you for this interesting discusion. It makes me think for sure.

      • Breezy
